Fern Creek Traditional High School
Fern Creek Traditional High School is a Communications, JROTC, Media and the Arts magnet school located in Louisville, Kentucky and is part of Jefferson County Public Schools. It was founded in 1923 as the first high school in the Jefferson County (Ky.) School System. Today, it has a population of around 1,400 students.
Fern Creek is a Communication and Media Arts school with program offerings in Cinematography and Video Production; Graphic Design; Visual Arts; Instrumental and Vocal Music; Theatre; Busines,s Multimedia, and Marketing; Computer Science; Marine Corps Junior ROTC; and Advanced Placement.

Churchill Downs Turf Club
Horse racing in Kentucky dates back to 1789, when the first race course was constructed in Lexington. Almost 100 years later, in 1875, Churchill Downs officially opened its gates in Louisville, and began its tradition as “Home of the Kentucky Derby” and the longest continually running sporting event in America.
Calhoun Construction Services served as the Construction Manager and General Contractor for this Churchill Downs Turf Club renovation. The project included demolition and renovation of the third and fourth floor Turf Club, outdoor bar, 2 new express elevators to the Turf Club and new ultra exclusive speakeasy bar.

Renovation of two classrooms celebrated
The School of Nursing has increased its capacity to educate more baccalaureate, advanced practice and research focused nurses through the renovation of two classrooms. A plaque in each room recognizes KentuckyOne Health for its $1 million contribution to the project.
The rooms allow for seating up to 100 people, and are equipped with the latest technology that can be used for opportunities like distance education and web-based continuing education presentations. In real time, the school can easily connect to Owensboro, home of the BSN extension campus, and the KentuckyOne Health’s twenty plus hospital system. Building the nursing workforce to create a healthier Kentucky is the goal.
Papa John's Cardinal Stadium
With the completion of a major expansion on the east side, in August 2010, Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium at the University of Louisville solidified its reputation as a premier college football facility and extrordinary community asset. The dramatic expansion increases the stadium capacity to 55,000 seats and provides exciting, state of the art features for fans of every type.
New premium seating includes the PNC Club and loge area with capacity of 1750. Three bars service the luxury club space, accessed easily from the seating, and the loge offers an expansive view of the football field from inside comfort. The addition also provides 33 new luxury suites with stairways and a balcony overlooking the PNC Club. Suites and the PNC Club are serviced by five elevators.
Another fan-friendly aspect of this expansion is the construction of the Norton Terrace that connects the east and west sides of the stadium seating bowls via a 60-foot wide concourse veranda overlooking the playing field. The area includes concessions and restrooms accessible from the seating areas.
The UPS flight deck is the new upper concourse and seating area. High above the field, these 1000 new chairback seats offer great views of the game from a rare vantage point which is sure to become popular with fans. Numerous concession stands and restrooms service the Flight Deck for the convenience of fans who have the option of using an accessible speed ramp for entry and exit.
The expansion also provides new 20’x60′ Daktronics video wall as well as a new video wall visible from the outside south of the stadium and enhanced video sign on Central Avenue south of the stadium.
These new features join the other amenities that garnered a reputation for Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium as an outstanding venue since its opening in 1998. The Brown and Williamson Club provides a flexible upscale space for private and community gatherings of all types from wedding receptions to trade shows and expos. Along with the 29 original luxury suites and all-chairback seating, the original stadium encompasses 1800 premium club seats. Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium sets the standard for fan friendly university athletic facilities.

Oakwood Specialty Clinic is an Intermediate Care Facility supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The facility opened in 1972 and is located in scenic Somerset, Kentucky, which is nestled between Lake Cumberland and the Daniel Boone National Forest. Their goal is to assist people to develop skills and interests that will help them to reach personal goals and live meaningful, balanced lives. Oakwood offers services that focus on wellness, community living, work, and leisure in a safe environment.
During the last 4 years, Oakwood Specialty Clinic has been involved in a Settlement Agreement and a transformation process. The facility successfully shifted from a traditional institution to a Resource Center. In addition to the variety of services on campus, they also utilize a Mobile Crisis Team to assist families and agencies across the state.
Calhoun Construction served as the General Contractor for the Oakwood Specialty Clinic. Oakwood Specialty Clinic consisted of new construction and renovation; the new construction including general construction, mechanical, plumbing and electrical work.
The work entailed an addition of approximately 7,500 square feet and renovation of approximately 960 square feet of the existing building. The addition is a single story, steel frame with metal stud walls and brick veneer, a shingle roof over nailboard composite insulation and metal roof deck .
