100 Years of Tradition for Chi Omega
Founded in 1895 at the University of Arkansas, Chi Omega is the largest women’s fraternal organization in the world with over 320,000 initiates, 178 collegiate chapters, and over 240 alumnae chapters. Throughout Chi Omega’s long and proud history, the Fraternity has brought its members unequaled opportunities for personal growth and development.

Their five founders were a small band of young women who, with the help of local dentist Dr. Charles Richardson, established the secrets, symbolism, and ritual that now bind together over 310,000 women from 174 collegiate chapters and more than 240 alumnae chapters.
Chi Omega is a sisterhood that provides a network of friends and lifelong development for collegiate and alumnae members. Chi Omega is committed to: personal integrity, excellence in academic and intellectual pursuits, inter-generational participation, community service, leadership opportunities, and social enrichment.
Calhoun Construction Services served as the General Contractor for the interior and exterior renovation of the Chi Omega sorority house in Lexington, Kentucky. The project included upgrades to the interior hardwood floors, new energy efficient windows and front entry.

Calhoun Construction Services served as a Trade Contractor self performing the work on the drywall, ceiling, metal framing, millwork, doors and hardware frames for the structure within the University of Kentucky. University of Kentucky – The 90 is a 1,000-seat dining hall for a Taco Bell and Aqua Sushi restaurant located within the university.
In addition, a research institute aimed at bolstering the use of locally grown food, class rooms and administrative offices are also located in The 90.

University of Kentucky Football Training Center
The new $45 million football training facility appears to be every bit the glittering “one-stop shop” the university promised. The students will now be able to academically do their work, while having the ability to train and they’ll be able to get most with their food within the facility as the university continues to make a commitment to improving all facilities…this is a significant step for the University of Kentucky football program.
Within this vast expansion, Calhoun Construction Services is serving as the drywall and ceiling subcontractor within the 120,000 square foot facility for the University of Kentucky.

Trimble County High School is a Kentucky high school located on highway 42 in Bedford, Kentucky in Trimble County, Kentucky.
Calhoun Construction Services performed as a Trade Contractor with support to Hussung Mechanical for a complete mechanical upgrade for the entire Trimble County High School. Calhoun also self-performed the work on the ceiling, drywall and fresh paint for the school.

Thruston-Philpot Volunteer Fire Department
Thruston – Philpot Volunteer Fire Department Station provides fire and emergency services to a 31 square mile area in Eastern Daviess County, Kentucky. The fire station now consists of 5 bays and a training facility.
Calhoun Construction Services served as the General Contractor for the Thruston-Philpot Volunteer Fire Department expansion self performing all concrete work and the standing seam metal roof.

The Speed Museum, originally known as the J. B. Speed Memorial Museum, is Kentucky’s oldest and largest art museum. It was founded in 1925 by Hattie Bishop Speed as a memorial to her husband, James Breckinridge Speed, a prominent Louisville businessman and philanthropist.
Calhoun Construction Services is providing the contracting services to the Speed Art Museum for their multi phase expansion and renovation which broke ground in the Spring of 2011. The project consists of approximately 200,000 square feet, including 40,000 square feet of renovation, 45,000 square feet of new construction and 135,000 square feet of landscape improvements.

Southern High School
On October 5, 1951, the Jefferson County Board of Education (JCBE) dedicated the new Southern High School. The new building was a monument to the planning, thinking, and efforts of members of the JCBE. The role of the new Southern High School was to better the communities of southern Jefferson County through better cultural possibilities, better recreation, and higher standards of living for all those who would be privileged to study within its walls.
Calhoun Construction Services performed select demolition of the architectural, electrical and sheet metal systems to facilitate a complete HVAC remodel for the entire facility.

The Quad In the Medical District NULU
The Quad In the Medical District are affiliated apartments for the University of Louisville medical and dental students, plus public health and graduate nursing students live within blocks of the University of Louisville’s Health Sciences Campus.
With over 100 units, Calhoun Construction Services served as the General Contractor creating studio, 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom units with a full kitchen and private baths, plus a common gathering/study room featuring a tv, deck, laundry machines, secured entrances and parking located below the building. Units feature large windows, central air and full kitchens with all new appliances.

The Owensboro Daviess County Tennis Association and the City of Owensboro combined efforts to make a long-time vision of a new indoor tennis facility a reality. Owensboro Daviess County Tennis Complex – Centre Court opened in April of 2015, featuring six indoor courts and nine outdoor courts. The massive tennis facility is nestled in the sports complex at Russell Shifley Park off Bittel Road—visible from the Bypass.

Potential services available in the facility include education, prevention and early intervention for children suffering from chronic illness as well as advocacy and community education centered around childhood obesity management, diabetes management and childhood safety.
