Kentucky Horsepark International Museum of the Horse Renovation

Lexington, KY

The International Museum of the Horse (IMH) at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington is undergoing a significant multi-phase renovation as part of a broader capital improvement initiative. Established in 1978, the IMH is the world’s largest museum dedicated to exploring the history of horses and their impact on human civilization. The renovation plans include updating core exhibits like “Legacy of the Horse,” introducing new interactive and bilingual displays, and improving accessibility and educational resources . These enhancements reflect the museum’s commitment to providing a dynamic and inclusive experience for visitors and scholars alike.

Calhoun Construction Services served as the General Contractor for this project and completed the upgrade of the museum classroom, restrooms, and entrance. We updated the cooling systems, reheat coils, and pricing.  Calhoun constructed new entrance vestibules featuring storefront glass and refurbished the entire entryway by replacing the terrazzo flooring.
