KSFB – State Fair Board Property Improvements – Phase 1
The Kentucky State Fair Board has initiated Phase I of a transformative redevelopment at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville. The project aims to modernize and expand the facility, enhancing its capacity to host a diverse array of events. This initiative represents a significant investment in Kentucky’s infrastructure, poised to bolster the state’s economy by attracting larger and more diverse events, thereby increasing tourism and job opportunities.
Calhoun is constructing the new 350,000 SF multi-purpose building (Exhibit Hall) located east of Broadbent Arena and north of the West Wing. This state-of-the-art structure will feature 280,000 square feet of exhibit space, complemented by meeting rooms, offices, public lobbies, and essential back-of-house facilities. Designed to accommodate events ranging from livestock competitions and equine shows to trade exhibitions and sporting events, the building will also include covered connectors to both Broadbent Arena and Freedom Hall, ensuring seamless integration within the existing complex. Work will include property wide beautification including lighting, parking, landscaping, site concrete, covered walkways, utilities, etc. Importantly, the project is structured to allow ongoing events at the Exposition Center to continue without interruption during the renovation period.
