Austin Elementary School is part of Scott County School District 1 and was originally built in 1957. They currently have approximately 700 student enrolled and 65 employees in grades K-5.

Calhoun Construction is acting as a Sub General Contractor on the Scott County School District 1 New Austin Elementary School and High School Renovation project in Austin, Indiana.  This project consists of 53,939 SF in renovation space and 97,108 SF of new construction. The project is to be completed in 2 Phases by August 2022.  Calhoun’s scope of work at the Elementary School includes all concrete, paving, playgrounds and equipment, landscaping, fencing, awnings, elevator, and construction site coordination, as well as selective demolition in the renovated buildings and new select finishes.  The High School includes renovating an interior pool area into a Multi-Purpose Gymnasium to be completed in Phase 1 by September 2021.  Calhoun’s scope of work includes demolition, pool infill, athletic equipment, bleachers, and flooring.
