University of Louisville Health Emergency Psychiatric Services Renovation
The ULH Emergency Psychiatric Services (EPS) Renovation is a 6,089 SF interior remodel within the Level 1 Care and Counseling Building (CCB) at University of Louisville Hospital. The project replaces the existing EPS layout with a modernized behavioral-health-appropriate treatment environment, including new patient rooms, nurse stations, support spaces, secure circulation paths, and updated finishes throughout. The work involves full demolition of ceilings, partitions, casework, and MEP systems in the renovation zone, followed by installation of new partitions, impact-resistant wall systems, upgraded lighting, revised HVAC zoning, new plumbing fixtures and medical gas routing, reconfigured fire protection, and updated electrical and systems infrastructure. All work must be sequenced in multiple phases to maintain hospital operations, maintain smoke compartments, and comply with stringent Life Safety Code, ICRA, and security requirements. The overall goal is to deliver a safer, more efficient, and clinically appropriate psychiatric emergency care unit through comprehensive architectural, mechanical, electrical, and life-safety upgrades.
