Athletico – Fern Creek

Better for Every Body®

For more than 30 years we’ve been helping remove pain and discomfort from people’s lives. Our patients trust in our expertise, which is why 98 percent would recommend us to a friend – because we were able to help make their lives better. – Athletico Physical Therapy, Better for Every Body

Defining Top-Notch Care Since 1991

We started with one therapist trying to make a difference in his community. Our Founder and Executive Chairman, Mark Kaufman was a physical therapist and athletic trainer with a vision to help as many people as possible. He started by providing rehabilitation services for student athletes at various organizations, with his first two being Francis W. Parker High School and Chicago Lions Rugby. Through his work with these athletes, he recognized the need for a dedicated sports rehabilitation and physical therapy facility in Chicago which led to our first clinic opening in 1991. Years later – we’ve opened more than 635 neighborhood locations and added more services to help people of all ages recover from pains, strains and injuries. We employ more than 4,500 expert clinicians, athletic trainers and other team members. In addition to physical therapy, we also provide athletic training, occupational therapy, specialty programs and fitness services to high schools, colleges and professional sports teams. Our expertise also includes evaluating workers’ compensation issues, like work conditioning, job-site analysis and ergonomic assessments.

Everything we do is focused around our core purpose of enhancing people’s health and quality of life. When you choose us for your rehabilitation needs, you will discover our dedication to exceptional, compassionate care.

Churchill Downs Mansion

The Kentucky Derby is just the beginning…

It all started with an inaugural race meet in 1875 that featured two flagship horse races: the Kentucky Oaks and the Kentucky Derby. These iconic races are still run beneath the Twin Spires years later, making the Derby the longest continually-held annual sporting event in the United States. Today, Derby Week is preceded by a month of events celebrating the Kentucky Derby and helps to bring over $350 million to the local economy each year.

Diversification beyond live horse racing into historical horse racing, online wagering and gaming has fueled the company’s growth and supported CDI’s expansion. In 2007, they created the industry-leading technology platform TwinSpires, that is now one of the most profitable online wagering platforms for horse racing in the U.S.

Calhoun Construction served as the Construction Manager on the renovation of the ultra exclusive Mansion. The 2022 refresh included painting of the main barrel ceiling and 6 soffits of feature lighting in main Mansion bar area.  New Ceiling paint and Wall coverings in the lobby, elevator, and teller areas and an addition of 14 Wireless Access Points installed above ceiling.

Churchill Downs New Paddock Experience

The $185 – $200 million redesign is the final phase of a previously-announced three-year capital investment plan for Churchill Downs Racetrack (“Churchill Downs”) that will provide new, unique and extraordinary guest experiences for Kentucky Derby fans.

This project will transform the existing Paddock area in a manner that will enhance the experience for nearly every guest who enters the gates of the historic racetrack. The current Paddock configuration blocks views of the Twin Spires from the entrance gate and restricts circulation from the Clubhouse to the Grandstand. The bold new design will enhance visibility of the iconic Twin Spires, streamline guest circulation paths, update the audio visual experience and create additional value for guests by updating existing ticket products and amenities.
